Responsibilities

For this placement as a public health intern, I worked in a medical clinic called Linea Vital where I took patients' vital signs, assisted with injections and IVs, triaged patients and cleaned out infected wounds, transported patients via ambulance, and shadowed the doctor.

Accomplishments

My greatest accomplishment from this experience has been the friendships I have formed with some of the regular patients at the clinic. Forming these friendships with patients has been rewarding because they were always grateful for our help and we learned more about each other with every visit they made.

What advice would you give?

Stick with your placement even if it seems overwhelming at first. Also, always remember you have a lot to learn and open yourself up to try different things and see things from another perspective.
