Alex Ziebell, Courtney Buckland win top honors at 2018 Ames Trashion Show
April 23, 2018Alex Ziebell, a junior in event management, and Courtney Buckland, a junior in apparel, merchandising, and design, won Overall Best in Show at the 2018 Ames Trashion Show, held Friday, April 20 at Serenity Couture Ames in North Grand Mall, IA. Their garment #2748 was designed using several different types of cardboard. Students Jessica Cipolla, Kaelin Lents, Katie Siebert, and Michaela Juelsgaard won the Most Impactful Attention Towards Environmental Issue award with Garment #2713, a garment featuring receipts stamped and stitched together. And students Alyssa Creagan, Kelly Stavneak, and Abigail Pleima won for Most Couture Construction with Garment #2719, made of spray painted straws. The 5th annual Trashion Show was a fundraiser benefitting the Audubon Society. All garments were created using recyclable materials by Iowa State University students in AESHM 222: Creativity on Demand.
