Angela Shaw receives Faculty Award for Diversity Enhancement

Angela Shaw, an associate professor in food science and human nutrition, will receive the Faculty Award for Diversity Enhancement from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. She includes underrepresented students in her laboratory and works to reach students throughout Iowa. She’s conducted workshops for more than 1,000 underserved youth in the Science Bound program, Food Science and Human Nutrition Student Days, World Food Prize and Youth Institute, Women in Science and Engineering and events through 4-H and FFA. She also started a career discovery program called ‘The Passion Academy’ in partnership with the Ames Middle School to help middle school students understand the opportunities available to them. Shaw will be recognized Thursday, March 8 at a convocation and awards program at the Memorial Union. The Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition is jointly administered by the College of Human Sciences and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
