Award-winning Hardeep Obhi is first gerontology doctoral graduate of Iowa State University

Hardeep Obhi is first student to earn a Ph.D. in gerontology from Iowa State University: The first-ever Ph.D. in gerontology from Iowa State University will be bestowed to Hardeep Obhi, Thursday evening at Hilton Colesium as part of the Graduate College Commencement Ceremony.

Obhi will also receive a Research Excellence Award from Iowa State for her investigation of biopsychosocial reserves and dementia and identification of life span protective factors that help prevent dementia. A Predoctoral Individual National Research Service Award from the National Institutes of Health funded Obhi’s dissertation work.

She has accepted a postdoctoral position at the Carolina Population Center at UNC Chapel Hill, where she will work on a funded study of the life course process of Alzheimer’s disease and effects of sex differences and biosocial mechanisms.
