Doug Wieczorek receives funding for Authentic Intellectual Work Implementation project

Doug Wieczorek, assistant professor in the school of education, received a one-year subcontract for $16,000 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison for a collaborative project funded by the Institute for Education Sciences (IES) entitled, “A Case Study of State-level Authentic Intellectual Work (AIW) Implementation.” The project will study the history, development, and implementation of Iowa’s AIW initiative from the perspectives of three stakeholder groups: state-level officers, area education agency (AEA) administrators, and local school district leaders. AIW is a teaching and learning framework designed to improve student learning through academic work that has meaning and value beyond school.
