Guowen Song awarded funding to develop smart textiles

Guowen Song, associate professor and Lloyd Chair in Textiles and Clothing in apparel, events, & hospitality management, received $152,906 from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Advanced Functional Fabrics of America (AFFOA) to create smart textiles for intelligent garments. The textiles will be constructed from biocomponent fiber able to adapt to the user’s body temperature or fluctuations in the external environment.
