HDFS alumna Vanessa McNeal reaches fundraising goal for sex trafficking documentary: Filmmaker Vanessa McNeal, a 2015 Iowa State University graduate in child, adult, and family services, on Feb. 7 announced that she has reached her goal of raising $35,000 in 60 days to fund a feature-length documentary aimed at exposing the sex trafficking industry in Iowa. The documentary, called Gridshock, is scheduled to be released this fall. McNeal’s attainment of her fundraising goal was featured by Cedar Rapids television station KGAN CBS2/KFXA FOX28. This project follows McNeal’s three previous documentaries about sexual violence: ‘I Am,’ ‘We Are Survivors,’ and ‘The Voiceless.’
