Hiding Total columns in Canvas

Every course in Canvas contains a Total column that is calculated from the gradable work that each student has submitted. If all students must submit assignments at the same time, all work is included in the final grade, and the grader has diligently entered zeros for missed work, the reported Total scores should be accurate. However many courses have more complicated grading structures. In such courses the Total displayed is misleading and often too high. To prevent student confusion, hide the Total scores by going to the Course Menu and clicking Settings > More Options > check the box in front of ‘Hide totals in student grades summary,’ then click Update Course Details.
