Indigenous children’s literature and K-12 history scholar will suggest how to teach children about Indigenous people, in Hilton Chair lecture

A scholar of Indigenous children’s literature and teaching of Indigenous peoples and history in K-12 education will lecture at 7 p.m., Wed., Feb. 26 at the Great Hall in the Memorial Union. In her lecture, “Indigenous People in Children’s and Young Adult Literature,” Debbie Reese will examine depictions of Native peoples in children’s books, past and present, and provide suggestions for how to become more skilled in selecting and presenting information about Indigenous peoples to children.
