Jonathan Fox, the Ruth Whipp Sherwin Professor in human development and family studies at Iowa State University, has been recognized for providing exceptional leadership for an online master’s degree and certificate program that is jointly offered by seven major universities. Fox received a Great IDEA Award for serving as a ‘Fearless Leader’ and providing outstanding coordination of the online graduate program in family financial planning offered through the Great Plains Interactive Distance Education Alliance. Both the degree and certificate programs prepare students to take the Certified Financial Planner Certificate Examination which leads to CFP® certification, a standard of excellence. Fox, who also leads the financial counseling and planning degree program at Iowa State, was cited for ensuring the Great Plains IDEA program’s excellence and innovation, and establishing outcome requirements in collaboration with the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards. The award was presented April 10 at the alliance’s annual meeting in Kansas City, Missouri.
