Laura VanWaarduuizen adds innovation to face-covering innovation, featured in KCCI TV News segment: Laura VanWaardhuizen was featured in a KCCI TV News segment for adding innovation to an innovation. VanWaardhuizen, family and consumer sciences education and studies program coordinator and assistant teaching professor in human development and family studies, redesigned an existing pattern for a novel face covering, which includes a clear vinyl window that makes it easier to read a person’s lips and see facial expressions. Her redesigned version fits better and is easier to sew — especially important since demand for the coverings is growing among teachers.
