Mari Kemis, director of the Research Institute for Studies in Education (RISE), received $29,700 from the University of Northern Iowa to conduct a survey of Iowa educators who implement STEM Scale-Up programs with K-12 students in all parts of the state. This study provides key information about the participation in and impact of various STEM programs on students and educators and is used by educators, Iowa’s six regional STEM managers, and the Governor’s STEM Advisory Council to improve STEM programming. In partnership with the University of Northern Iowa’s Center for Social and Behavioral Research and the Iowa Testing Program, this project tracks indicators related to STEM in Iowa, Iowan’s knowledge about STEM, and attitudes and achievement of students in STEM subjects. This is the seventh year RISE has received this award.
