Resubmitted assignments

There is nothing in Canvas to prevent a student from resubmitting an assignment prior to its ‘Available Until’ closing date. This is a useful feature if a student has submitted an incorrect file and wishes to resubmit. However, when the student resubmits, they no longer see their first submission or any feedback the instructor may have provided on it. Also, there is only one grade column associated with the assignment and it is associated with the last submission. If an instructor wishes to have separate submissions – such as a draft and final version of a paper– these must be created as separate activities. Similarly, if students are to submit weekly reports, a separate activity must be created for each one and each is graded as a separate activity.
