Science Bound scholar and management information systems senior Zakariya Hill has received a 2020 Women Who Create Scholarship Award offered through the ISU Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship to support and celebrate entrepreneurs. Hill co-founded SupplyHive, a nonprofit in Des Moines that educates the community, dispenses supplies for local events, and channels volunteers to provide necessities to people in marginalized groups. She demonstrates the success of the Science Bound program, which is administered by the School of Education to empower students from eighth grade through college to pursue degrees and careers in agriculture, science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields and education. Hill’s work is highlighted in a feature story in the Des Moines Register that ran on Dec. 21, as part of the newspaper’s “People to Watch in 2021” series.
