Research

SoJung Lee, assistant professor in apparel, events, and hospitality management, received $25,000 from North Central Regional Center for Rural Development funded by the USDA. The funding will be used to study the impact of volunteers on community festivals and development. Twelve rural festivals in Iowa, Michigan, and Kansas will be studied to identify how volunteers influence community sustainability, how demographics affect the impact of volunteers on a rural community, and to create a festival volunteer training toolkit.
