Brown honored with Faculty Collegiality Award

Ames, Iowa — The International Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education (ICHRIE) recently honored Eric A. Brown, associate professor of hospitality management at Iowa State University, with its 2025 Faculty Collegiality Award.

ICHRIE is a global organization dedicated to advancing excellence in hospitality and tourism education, research, and service. Its members include educators, researchers, industry professionals, and institutions committed to shaping the future of hospitality education worldwide.

The Faculty Collegiality Award recognizes a faculty member or administrator who demonstrates a sustained commitment to fostering collaboration, building strong professional relationships, and supporting colleagues’ success in teaching, research, and service. The award celebrates leadership that strengthens both campus and professional communities through team-building, mentorship, and service.

“I am honored to receive the ICHRIE Faculty Collegiality Award,” Brown said. “ICHRIE has long been a professional home for me, and I am grateful for the many opportunities it has provided to collaborate with and learn from such an inspiring community of educators and leaders. Collegiality is the foundation of meaningful academic work, and I’m proud to be part of an organization that values and rewards it.”

Brown holds the Richard Mahoney and Lois Hartman Professorship in Hospitality Management and serves as Associate Chair for Undergraduate Academic Affairs at Iowa State University. His academic and professional focus lies in leadership, career readiness, and professional development within the hospitality field. A dedicated member of ICHRIE, Brown has held multiple regional and international leadership roles, including President of the Central Federation and Director of Member Services and Development. He is widely known for mentoring faculty and graduate students and fostering high-impact, collaborative environments in both academic and professional settings.
