Responsibilities

I do a variety of tasks, but the majority of my job is centered around relationship building with donors/participants for our Walk/Run. My supervisor is the lead on this event and one of the most important tasks that we have is to ensure that we are creating bonds with them and they continue to participate. I help with every event in the office, setting up silent auctions, "Give to Live," and have been in charge of vendor information.

Accomplishments

I think the most exciting thing that I have done so far in my internship has been a site visit for our Walk/Run. Our event takes place at the U.S. Bank Stadium and we have a new race director coming in to help us improve the experience. Together, we spent the day touring the space and figuring out the layout as well as talking about previous challenges and how to overcome those. It was a cool day for me as I got to give input on an event that brings in hundreds of thousands of dollars for St. Jude!

What advice would you give?

I think my biggest piece of advice is to apply for jobs early! When a job opening is posted, submitting your application within the first 48 hours makes you look SO good. That means that you need to always have your resume prepared and updated and always be searching for jobs that you are wanting.
