Responsibilities

Managing the Marriott Courtyard Bistro restaurant by preparing meals for guests, mixing and serving cocktails, beer, and wine,and providing exemplary customer service for all Courtyard guests.

Accomplishments

My greatest accomplishment from my internship experience was when I served a group of 18 corporate guests that were staying at the Courtyard for a company training event. I served the group cocktails throughout an entire evening, and even stayed open late for the guests so they could spend more time together. By the end of the night, the group had enjoyed my personality and service so much they offered me a job at their company. It felt great knowing that not only had I mixed and served them drinks all on my own, but I had made an impact on them and improved their stay at Courtyard.

What advice would you give?

One major piece of advice that I would give future students would be to really take the time to learn from their supervisors/managers. Leaders are always looking to give back to others, so put effort into speaking with your mentors about their experiences with the company you work for and how they made it to their position in their career. Take their stories and intel with you as you begin your career moving forward.
