Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY This intern will contribute to the local missions team by helping provide support primarily to the transitional housing and post-incarceration ministries at Cornerstone Church of Ames. The position will require an average of 20 hours per week. A majority of the intern’s time will involve personal interaction with women and/or families as they seek to gain more solid footing regarding employment, housing and personal growth. Responsibilities may also include administrative tasks, volunteer coordination and reading assignments relevant to the job. MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Take a shift each week at the Butterfly Freedom house, providing support to residents as needed 2. Participate in the application and interview process of women wanting to come live at the Butterfly House 3. Contribute to general operations of the house, including working on newsletters, tenant tracking, managing volunteers, etc. 4. Attend Home for Awhile board meetings 5. Support Home for Awhile tenants and allies, potentially filling the ally role, as well 6. Generally assist as needs arise involving Home for Awhile donations, administration, and volunteer support

My Greatest Accomplishment from this internship was being able to get to know different families and connect them with different resources.
