Responsibilities

Supporting digital apparel and textile development projects from concept through execution, I assist with 3D workflows that translate design ideas into digital garments. My work includes garment visualization, asset preparation, and digital prototyping while applying knowledge of garment construction and fit to evaluate design intent and production feasibility. In addition to project work, I help monitor and support the Digital Apparel and Textiles Studio (DATS) lab, assisting students with Browzwear and other digital tools, maintaining organized workspaces, and helping ensure daily lab operations run smoothly.

Accomplishments

My greatest accomplishment during my internship has been contributing as a member of a professional team. Through this experience, I’ve had the opportunity to support a variety of projects, take on new responsibilities, and apply the skills I’ve developed in the classroom to real-world workflows. Being trusted to assist with meaningful tasks and contribute to larger projects has helped build my confidence and reinforced my ability to work productively in a professional environment.

Learning experience

One of the greatest lessons I learned from this experience was the importance of collaboration and communication in a professional environment. Working alongside a team showed me how different skills and perspectives come together to complete projects effectively. I also learned how important adaptability and problem-solving are in daily work, as tasks and priorities can change quickly. This experience helped me better understand how to apply the technical skills I’ve developed in school to real-world workflows while continuing to learn from others around me.

What advice would you give?

My advice for future students in this major is to take the time to discover what truly excites you and then commit to exploring it deeply. The fashion industry is incredibly diverse, and it’s impossible to fit into every role or opportunity at once. Instead of trying to do everything, focus on the areas that interest you most and work to develop real expertise in them. Challenge your skills every day, seek out opportunities that push you outside of your comfort zone, and don’t be afraid to make mistakes along the way. These years are meant for experimenting, learning, and growing. If you approach each day with curiosity and a willingness to improve, you’ll leave the program not only with stronger skills but with a clearer sense of the path you want to pursue.
