My responsibilities included walking the fitness floor and connecting with members, selling my services as a personal trainer, making sure the fitness floor was picked up and cleanly, learned the Life Time way, and learned how to use the software. When I gained clients, my responsibilities for them were to prepare for their session by creating a program for them, cueing, and demonstrating proper form and technique, getting creative to ensure my clients got a good workout but also a workout they enjoy, and learning about each of my clients to help better serve them.

My greatest accomplishment during my internship was helping my clients achieve their goals. I have quite a few older adult clients with goals of staying healthy and I ended up helping them cure their joint pain and stiffness. Hearing the joy and relief in my clients’ voices when they tell me how good they feel is truly the best feeling as a trainer.

Learning experience

The greatest lesson I learned during my internship was to trust myself and my abilities. I learned to be confident in my knowledge and to not doubt my skills. I also learned to always say yes, especially when starting out building my business.

What advice would you give?

Choose an internship that may be out of your comfort zone. Go for the internship that you may not think you will get. Be confident in your abilities and always say yes to tasks you may not think you can do.
