GENERAL OVERVIEW -Specific responsibilities based on class requirements and confirmed prior to acceptance -There are 10 YMCA locations in the Greater Omaha area with a variety of programs and services as well as membership demographics and medically-based programs offered at multiple locations REQUIREMENTS/EDUCATION -Exercise Science education and experience (current major or degree) -Nationally recognized certification (ACE, ACSM, AFAA, etc.) or working to obtain Management &/or experience working in a fitness facility -Fitness Assessment knowledge & experience -Exercise Prescription knowledge &/or experience GENERAL DUTIES (WILL BE MODIFIED BASED ON EXPERIENCE/INTEREST) YMCA Fitness Area Responsibilities -Assist with education & training of Wellness Coaches -Assist with planning and administering Wellness Coach meetings -Develop and maintain Wellness Coach shift schedules -Work scheduled shifts each week in the fitness area (& sub as needed) -Evaluate Wellness Coach performance -Develop open communication with members and provide education -Manage equipment & keep open line of communication with Fitness Maintenance staff including but not limited to machines, stereo, and weight equipment -Assist in purchasing new equipment (as needed) Group Exercise Program -Assist in educating & training Group Exercise Instructors (aerobic & resistance training) -Assist planning & administering instructor meetings -Teach scheduled classes each week (& sub as needed) -Assist in evaluating GX instructor performance -Develop open communication with members and provide education -Manage equipment & keep open line of communication with Fitness Maintenance staff. -Assist in purchasing new equipment (as needed) -Assist with participant stats Personal Training & Fitness Assessments -Provide Get Started appointments for members -Staff Fit Check hours on a monthly basis and provide assessments for members -Train clients as scheduled/recruited -Maintain client records -Assist with development and training of personal training staff and program -Maintain paperwork and equipment -Maintain Fitness Assessment stat records Special Programming -SilverSneakers® -Participant outreach and social events -LIVESTRONG at the YMCA -Maintain participant records, assist with classes, functional assessments, data collection, alumni programming -Assist with other medically-based programming initiatives Employee Wellness -Develop health and wellness programs for YMCA of Greater Omaha employees. -Assist with association-wide policies and procedures
