Responsibilities

I was responsible for making sure the exercise lab was ran according to procedure. This included building rapport with participants, logging participant pedometer steps, conducting maximal aerobic/resistance tests, and any other exercise related question a participant may have. I also was a key contributor in Thursday morning assessments, where we conducted physiological assessments including blood work, height/weight, waist circumference, DEXA scan, Fit3D scan, and arterial stiffness. In addition to my responsibilities in the lab, I was also tasked with entering 3 separate forms of data. 6 month assessment data, exercise compliance data, and Fit3D body scan data were all data sets that I was tasked with inputting.

Accomplishments

My greatest accomplishment from my internship experience was the ability to connect with so many individuals. Having the opportunity to work hands on with the participants for 12 weeks allowed me to go out of my comfort zone, and build relationships with individuals from all across the map.

What advice would you give?

For this internship, and in all aspects of life, go in with an open mind. You never know what may come from it. This internship is a great opportunity to help you in realizing what your true passions are, as well as what you may not be passionate about. Go the extra mile, work as hard as you can at whatever you do, and make sure to have fun with the process.
