Amanda Arensdorf
Responsibilities
For my internship, I am a floor supervisor. My duties include but are not limited to: directing and motivating the store team, maximizing associate productivity, assuring all tasks are up to the policy and procedures, and assisting in the development of associates through feedback, coaching, and training. It is also important for me to demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills, develop proficiency in all operational policies and procedures, manage time and prioritize tasks. In addition, I am also responsible for opening and closing the store, creating Take 5 meetings, assisting in making business decisions based on sell-through strategies, maintaining elevated store presentations through merchandising and visuals, executing markdowns and re-merchandise, and maintaining store organization.
Accomplishments
My greatest accomplishment from my experience so far would be my involvement in creating and maintaining the merchandise and visuals around the store. I have completed various mannequins throughout the store, helped create the new floor set, hung various promotional and visual signage to push sales, and ordered promotional signage and hardware.
What advice would you give?
My advice for future students would be to be aggressive in your learning from your internship. You are working with people who have at least a couple of years if not more experience than you and they are happy to help you learn if they can see that you are putting the effort in. Another piece of advice is to network while you are in your internship, you never know who you will meet and what they could help you with in the future.
