Responsibilities

At the Beacon Center, I assistant all full time faculty members. So, that allows me to do different roles almost every day. A few primary responsibilities that I fulfill include: receptionist roles, Rural Outreach assistant, and greet children that are utilizing our organization's Family Visitation Center. Other side roles that I share, include: shelter client check-ups, donation/group room upkeep, and some other administration tasks as well.

Accomplishments

One of my biggest accomplishments so far during my experience is getting compliments from our executive director and a few board members about how hard of a worker that I am. My work recognition actually helped me land a full-time job with them after my internship.

What advice would you give?

You will hear over and over again, "I am glad you do what you do, because I sure couldn't do it". Careers in human or social services, and non-profits are hard, be proud and ready for that challenge.
