Responsibilities
- helped create sketches on adobe illustrator - learned how to draw rendered lace fabrics on illustrator, create prints on illustrator, create trims, and render sketches on illustrator. - helped create technical flats, pattern-making cards, organize sheets for marketing, and created measurement charts on technical flats. - learned InDesign - ran errands to trim stores
Accomplishments
My greatest accomplishment during my internship was drawing a 36" by 36" lace/crochet table cloth fabric on illustrator. This took me about two weeks to draw and each piece is drawn individually! I am also proud of how far I have grown in my skills with adobe illustrator and the amount of sketches and rendering I did!
Learning experience
My biggest lesson I learned was learning how much it truly takes to create a collection and to value those around you such as the social media employee, the merchandising/marketing employee, the pattern-maker, etc, because they are just as important as the designer!
What advice would you give?
My biggest piece of advice is if you want to leave Iowa, leave it. Take that risk and apply to the cities or countries you want to go to. Don't stress it, don't over think it, just apply and get that internship. The rest will fall into place. I got my internship at the beginning of May and had 3 weeks to figure out how I'm going to move to NYC for 2 months and where to live; but in the end it all always falls into place! So take that leap; it's so worth it. This was the best summer of my life and the best opportunity I received!
