Responsibilities

On a day to day basis, I assist the full time staff with many projects ranging from moving a few tables and chairs to setting up for an upcoming sporting event. In previous years I have been in charge of the Career Fairs held at Hilton Coliseum. I was the liaison to employers, ambassadors and college contacts for these fairs with over 5,000 attendees.During the football season, I oversee the premium area staff, ensuring that guest satisfaction is high, and answering any questions they may have. Currently, I am training the new interns on game day operations and have assumed more leadership in my senior year.

Accomplishments

My greatest accomplishment was last year. While my boss was in the hospital, I was responsible for overseeing all of the premium spaces and the staff that goes with that. Rather than overseeing a single space, I was in charge of all 3. This was a huge leap in responsibility for me, and the season went great guest service wise!

What advice would you give?

My advice to future students would be to get out of your comfort zone. You never know what you may stumble upon and find. Especially in regards to your internship. Starting my freshman year, I never thought I would like a career in sports, given that I knew nothing about them. But now, I am looking for full time positions in the sports management field because I have fell in love with this industry. Basically, don't just stick with a job or field that you know you like, be sure you try everything you can while you have the resources given to you from ISU.
