Responsibilities

My responsibilities include taking initial intakes of clients that are victims of any type of crime and answering the crisis phone line. I assist in sexual assault calls, and violent crime calls. I go with advocates to be an extra support person for a victim during detective interviews, counseling sessions, county attorney meetings, protective orders, depositions, court trials, and sentencing.

Accomplishments

My greatest accomplishment so far is being able to go to the child protective center by myself. After shadowing, I had the confidence to talk to the child's guardian myself about the situation at hand and about what our services are. I am in charge of getting the initial intake of the client, and the release forms advocates need.

What advice would you give?

Go out of you comfort zone, I have learned so much doing so. I have learned about the field, society, and myself. I have grown so much and pushed myself by not staying in my comfort zone.
