Responsibilities

Throughout my internship, I have been able to gain a first-hand experience with planning and the execution of Make-A-Wish Signature events.

Accomplishments

During my Internship as a Signature Events Intern with Make-A-Wish, one of my greatest accomplishments was being able to help coordinate and execute large-scale fundraising events. These events were not only a crucial part in raising funds, but also for increasing the overall awareness about Make-A-Wish's mission to fulfill the wishes of children with critical illnesses. One of the most gratifying moments throughout this experience would be during The I Wish to Party event in February, where I was able to experience raising over $30,000 in a matter of 2 minutes through a thermometer raiser on screen at the event. Moments like these are why I love being in this industry and getting to experience the success of a non-profit organization.

Learning experience

One of the greatest lessons I have learned throughout this experience has been the power of teamwork. Make-A-Wish has taught me how important it is to lean on one another and collaborate with others to effectively achieve a common goal. Working as a team and having people that feel like family has really made this internship experience incredible and has taught me how to collaborate with others.

What advice would you give?

One piece of advice I would give to future students that are studying Event Management would be to unapologetically be yourself. Take your time and experience everything that comes your way. Getting involved and trying new things has lead me to great success within this industry. College goes by so fast, and making the most of it is what matters!
