Ashlyn McDougall

Responsibilities

There are three interns this semester, but I typically focus on the media/communications aspect. I help with graphic design and make any posters and flyers that are needed. I also photograph missing items and items from the catalog that need updated photos. I assist the museum team, help with tours, and work on exhibitions.

Accomplishments

So far, my greatest accomplishment has been my contribution to our newest exhibition, The Fold, where I created posters for the displays.

Learning experience

I have gained knowledge about working in a professional environment and what it takes to flow as a team. I have created strong connections and will take this information with me to my next internship or post grad job.

What advice would you give?

I recommend other FDM students to have confidence and put themselves out there, even when they're intimidated. You might miss an opportunity due to intimidation, and being confident in your abilities will lead to success.
