Responsibilities

In the beginning of my internship with ChildServe, I helping therapists update their plans of treatment for the patients that they see. I also helped the rehab techs set up therapy rooms for the children's appointments. Now that I am close to the end of my internship, I am helping to verify they have the correct paperwork and insurance so that these amazing children with special needs can receive the therapy services and treatments that they need.

Accomplishments

My greatest accomplishment from my experience with ChildServe was pushing myself to find a way to stay with this organization even after I graduate. I fell in love with ChildServe only days after starting my internship. I pushed myself to learn new things each day and to be proactive when jobs opened up within the organization. It has always been a dream to work for a non-profit that helps children, and I can finally say that I did it! I am so excited to see where I will go with this organization and I am proud to say that I made it happen!

What advice would you give?

Start your search for an internship early and apply to every single one that you can! Step out of your comfort zone. It is okay to be an intern for a position you wouldn't have immediately gone to. I never thought I would be working in a position that I am in today, but I found an organization that would accept me as an intern with little experience in the field and I have loved working there every single day!
