Responsibilities

Part of my responsibilities were to assist with the development, implementation, and supervision of the activities for guests at Big Cedar Lodge!, Learn to enhance the guest experience through activities and programs, as well as organize activities such as: Little Cedar Kids' Club Program, Holiday event schedules, seasonal Guest programs, festivals, and private group recreation.

Accomplishments

My greatest accomplishment would be helping the day of our biggest event at Big Cedar Lodge which is the fourth of July! There was so much going on that day and so many guests coming for this once-in-a-lifetime experience with their families. There were blow-up rides along with face painting, and balloon making, we had a mechanical bull, there was live music performing the whole night, there were two different plane flyovers, and there were skydivers who held the flag while they were parachuting down. To end the night they had fireworks over the lake. My greatest accomplishment was being able to make this day a success, my manager worked long and hard hours to come up with it. All of us interns were so proud to stand next to her and make it happen. That's all I look forward to in the future having a hard-working and proud team next to me.

Learning experience

Your coworkers and teammates are the backbones of a successful team. They really do treat you like your family here at Big Cedar Lodge. They appreciate you and point out your hard work, we have a compliment board where we boost each other up on, Managers check-in with everyone one-on-one every month, and overall some of the best people I have ever worked with. I can't thank them enough for what they have taught me and for one of the best summer experiences ever.

What advice would you give?

The advice I have for future students is to try everything. There are so many different opportunities in this field that can teach you so much. Even if you don't think you'll like it, try it anyways. It could lead you to something bigger and better but you don't know if you don't try.
