Establish and communicate job responsibilities and performance expectations to direct reports to assure mutual understanding and desired results. Understand the overarching company strategy, as well as communicate and model the core values of the organization, to create a sense of teamwork and membership among employees. Ensure store personnel comply with the company’s customer satisfaction guidelines and demonstrate appropriate interactions with customers and co-workers. Ensure the quality and freshness of products and merchandises product neatly to maximize sales. Assure direct reports complete assigned responsibilities in a timely and effective manner to provide the highest level of customer service for the business.
Holding a formal management title, while gaining important leadership skills. I've been able to take subjects from classes, and actually use those skills in my work to help motivate my employees, and to also use the FIFO method when putting out fresh food products for our customers. It's been so amazing to use the skills that I have learned from class and apply them to my internship!
What advice would you give?
Take your experience one day at a time, so you can learn as much as you can! Be patient, listen to your employees, and have fun! Having leadership experience is so important, and will really help you find a job after graduation. Definitely enjoy this experience and make the most out of it because it fly's by!
