Responsibilities

Taught a variety of fitness classes on land and water- each class being different levels of skill. Record keeping, exercise tracking, and attendance online. Performed health and fitness assessments for participating residents and community members. Created presentations and informative sessions on various health concerns for residents and employees. Created ideas for employee incentive wellness challenges. Assisted in programs and activities outside of the fitness center. Cleaned and organized fitness center and equipment.

Accomplishments

Allowing individuals who participate in our fitness classes to explore their capabilities and achieve new accomplishments. Seeing our residents and Well Ahead Community members achieve a new fitness goal that they never thought was possible was one of the most rewarding parts of my internship. It is very heartwarming to see the pure joy on the faces of our members when they overcome an obstacle in their lives, and it fills me with joy knowing that I was apart of it.

What advice would you give?

Do not be afraid to think out of the box and try new things! The geriatric population loves learning new exercises and activities, so do not be afraid to change things up. Do not take offense to constructive criticism or advice... it only makes you better! :)
