Responsibilities

For my internship I serve as the event coordinator. With that comes a lot of responsibilities but I have narrowed it down to a few things. For all the events we hold (mostly golf tournaments) we have to plan food for over 100 guys plus 20+ staff members, so making sure we have enough food and at least something everyone is going to like is very important. The second would be organizing “tee” gifts and what that consist of is a gift you give each player before a tournament. The challenging part is not repeating any gifts and that can get hard because golf only has so many things in common examples of that would be a golf bag, head covers, polos, ect.

Accomplishments

My greatest accomplishment so far has been connecting with members at The Harvester Club and getting a job after graduating. It is amazing how many different people I have met this summer and can’t wait for the future!

Learning experience

A big lesson I learned was how to react quickly when something happens during an important time period. During our 2 biggest event of the summer our chef got sick leaving us with only an assistant chef. We were able to get through the long weekend just fine with help from the amazing staff that never hesitated and went with the flow of everything. It was great knowing that everyone helps everyone here.

What advice would you give?

My biggest piece of advice would be to fight for what you want until they say yes. I had so much trouble getting this internship approved but didn’t stop until the answer was yes. I have learned so much from this internship and glad I never gave up.
