Responsibilities

Event Management: - Assist in the organizational and day of duties involved with a large event in July - Plan and promote a series of webinars over the course of your internship - Assist as needed with planning of corporate dinners and trips for large groups Social media. - Developing and executing our social media strategy to maximise our reach to our target markets using appropriate channels (e.g. LinkedIn). - Developing material to promote the events that week and boost attendance - Working with the marketing team to examine the ways social media can work within wider campaigns.

Accomplishments

My greatest accomplishment from my internship experience has been the night of our largest event "An Evening with John Daly". Being thrown into the middle of planning this event at the end of May with little direction and finally seeing it happen was a really good feeling for me. I got to see all the hard work that went into the decorations, food, layout, guest list and entertainment. Helping set everything up the day of was also a really good feeling as I was seeing it all come together as I was doing it.

Learning experience

The greatest lesson I have learned so far with planning events is that something will always go wrong. It can be something little like running out of the choice beer for the night or something big like having your speaker arrive 45 minutes late and slightly intoxicated. It's always best to plan for both scenarios no matter how perfectly everything might be planned.

What advice would you give?

My only piece of advice for other students would be to always stop and take a moment when something goes wrong. It can be hard to focus on 100 things at once so having that second to clear your head and think of the most efficient way to make something better is always really helpful.
