During my internship, I was at two of WesleyLife's locations. The Network Support Center in Johnston, IA where I focused on corporate/employee wellness and my other time was spent at Edgewater in West Des Moines, IA where I was the wellness assistant. At the Network Support Center, I helped design and implement wellness programs or incentive programs, designed promotional flyers and posters, conducted blood pressure clinics & more. At Edgewater, I was was responsible for teaching weekly fitness classes, creating marketing materials, planning programs & attending social events and trips with residents. I enjoyed being able to see both sides within the company.
My greatest accomplishment from my experience working for WesleyLife was becoming more comfortable teaching exercise classes to the residents. Before my internship, I had no experience doing so. I feel much more confident and comfortable now.
What advice would you give?
My advice for future students is to go out of your comfort zone and try new things. That's when you can discover new talents and interests about yourself.
