Responsibilities

I was given the tasks of helping the HR department in daily operations. I would do things like, background checks, job postings, sit in on meetings, organize files/data, etc. I was also able to learn about the in's and out's of working with people who work with kids, and how to facilitate hard conversations among staff members.

Accomplishments

I feel as though that greatest thing about my internship was being able to best support people who work in the human services field. There are a lot of behind the scenes things that happen not only with HR but with the human services field.

What advice would you give?

I would advise future students to do an internship that will challenge you even though it may be hard. This environment will be the best place to learn and potentially fail rather than failing at your first full-time job. Don't take the easy way out and pick something you already know you like.
