Responsibilities

I hold the head designer role, where I am given the opportunity of creating and developing a new line of maternity clothing for the company Muqin. My responsibilities range from forecasting trends, developing designs, converting designs into tech flats and PLMs, sourcing materials, test fitting and reviewing garments.

Accomplishments

My greatest accomplishments so far have come from working on the technical flats. Technical flats convey how a garment is assembled to the production team, so it’s been fulfilling to dive deeper into the logical side of how a garment would be assembled and seeing how I can depict that through my technical drawing skills.

Learning experience

A lesson I’ve learned through this experience is though there may be setbacks in the manufacturing process, work never stops we continue to create ideas so when production starts, we’ll have enough designs to produce for the next couple years.

What advice would you give?

Some advice I would like to give would be don’t be afraid to reach out to those around you for help. Our instructors and classmates are valuable networking opportunities, they want to see you grow and succeed in life.
