Shadow and assist coaches during CrossFit classes, participate in classes, help clean the gym, and attend coaches meetings. Learn the specifics of CrossFit: learn the class structure, movement technique and how to correct movements, and learn the CrossFit methodology. Show up each day with a positive attitude and build relationships with participants. Educate and inspire the participants by teaching them correct form and ways to improve movements.
My greatest accomplishment was leading CrossFit classes. Based off of the workouts I was able to create my own warm ups that successfully prepared the participants for the movements that day. I was able to keep the class motivated, organized and filled up the entire time slot for that class. I was also able to improve my communication skills and public speaking from my daily interactions with participants.
What advice would you give?
Be confident in yourself and be willing to get out of your comfort zone. Take time out of your day when you're not working to continue learning as much as you can, there is always more to educate yourself with.
