Responsibilities

My responsibilities during my internship included creating client materials such as visuals and schedules. I also created lessons for school readiness groups that contain fine and gross motor activities, worksheets, and songs all within a corresponding theme. I also functioned as a support person during large group settings and helped collect data.

Accomplishments

My greatest accomplishment during my internship was making connections and building rapport with the clients that this agency served. I was given the opportunity to build relationships with the clients that I saw in the agency everyday. I feel as if this is my greatest accomplishment because it's a way to know that the work I was doing was making a difference.

Learning experience

The greatest lessons I learned during this internship was how to advocate for myself. I felt my confidence build as I became more sure of my role in the agency. One of my greatest lesson learned is that you can't underestimate the power of a genuine relationship with a client.

What advice would you give?

I would advise the future students in my major to reach beyond your comfort zone. Whether that means working with adults when you prefer kids, or trying both a school and clinic setting. It's the perfect time to figure out what you do and don't like without the stakes being too high! Try something new!
