Responsibilities

During my internship, my responsibilities included creating programs for athletes, general health clients, and rehab clients! Going through workout plans was my main responsibility as I had to create them based on the client's needs, injury factors, the sport they were in, and even their preferences. I also took care of creating social media pages for the business, along with creating brochures for the company and handing out business cards in local areas. I also made sure areas were clean, and laundry was taken care of for the athletes, and communication overall with shadowing as well.

Accomplishments

My greatest accomplishment was when my mentor gave me 30 minutes to see a patient and give me some information on them before I had to create a program. After that i had to enter a busy gym and run them through the program and deliver cues and instructions, and complete the workout with them to see if I can handle one-on-one training.

Learning experience

The greatest lessons I learned were how important attitude and confidence can be when dealing with clients. If they are not like your attitude and personality towards this lift or simply do not appreciate your effort, they will most likely not work with you again. Another is simply having a great mentor being important in growth.

What advice would you give?

Go with your gut and choose something you know you can enjoy even though it's challenging. Growth comes from being uncomfortable, and if you're willing to grow in your area, then you need to be willing to sacrifice time and enjoy the process in every way.
