Preparing and serving three meals a day to children of all ages and their camp counselors. Washing and sanitizing dishes after every meal. Maintaining clean and sanitary conditions throughout the kitchen, dry storage, and the walk in refrigerator and freezer. Planning menu items for individuals with special diets. Finally, interacting with parents and families on check in and check out days.
One of the things I am most proud of from my time at camp was the gluten free, dairy free, vegan cinnamon bread I made. It was definitely a challenge but seeing the final product and getting positive feedback was so rewarding.
What advice would you give?
Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone! Not only will you learn a lot from the experience, you will learn a lot about yourself as well.
