Responsibilities

I'm the hospitality intern for Des Moines Golf and Country Club. I rotate through all of the part time positions and will end up with experience as a manager at the end of the summer. Some examples of positions I've worked while here include: waitressing, bartending, bar cart and serving for banquets.

Accomplishments

I've been successful in working in multiple aspects of the club and feel confident in my abilities to help others out. My customer service skills have grown greatly and I've accomplished things I never imagined completing this early in my college career.

Learning experience

I've learned what it takes to make a successful business run. I've been able to see many aspects of the club in action and learn what makes it so successful. I've also learned about different styles of management and what works best in each situation.

What advice would you give?

Always keep your eye out for great internships! You never know when a great one will pop up and give you the experience of a lifetime. Enjoy your time wherever you end up, and really appreciate the relationships you make with people along the way. You never know who you could end up meeting.
