Responsibilities

At Story County Attorney's Office I am both a victim/witness and trial coordinating intern that reaches out to people involved in specific cases (theft, drunk driving, assaults, etc.) and get restitution (compensation for losses) and send out case updates including when trials and sentencings are and what the verdict and punishments are for defendants.

Accomplishments

The greatest accomplishment so far is my ability to understand and comprehend all the different legal terms that are used and how the words play a role in court. Before this internship, I didn't understand almost any of the common words used by attorneys but now they are like second nature and have prepared me for graduate school.

What advice would you give?

My advice for future students is to keep persisting through any task you have at hand whether it's in school, work or personally, you need to be focused on the tasks you have already started.
