Responsibilities

As a merchandising intern, my primary job was to learn. At Gap, we were able to take various retail classes, shadow on product lifecycle meetings, and work on our own projects that helped advance our learning of the organization.

Accomplishments

My greatest accomplishment was being able to read and understand business reports, and take those learnings and apply them to strategies for the following year. It was my final project, and it was great to see how far I've come from not understanding any of the industry jargon to being able to speak it.

What advice would you give?

While landing an internship and while working at a company, take the time to meet with people in different departments. It is a super helpful way to see different career paths, get more advice, and make connections outside your team. You never know when those contacts may come in handy later.
