Responsibilities

During my internship, I worked with my professor on a research project about AI-generated images in branded communication within the fashion industry. My main responsibility was helping with research related to the use of AI-generated models in fashion marketing, including campaigns like Levi’s that experimented with AI models. I searched for and collected academic articles, read research papers, and organized notes to help build a literature review for the project. I also summarized key ideas from the articles and helped identify important themes about how AI technology is changing fashion marketing and branding. This experience gave me the opportunity to support real academic research while learning more about how technology is influencing the fashion industry

Accomplishments

One of my greatest accomplishments during this internship was contributing to a research project that aims to submit an abstract to the International Textile and Apparel Association (ITAA) conference in April. I helped gather and organize research materials that will support the study, including academic sources and examples from the fashion industry. Being part of a project that could potentially be presented at an academic conference was a meaningful experience for me. It allowed me to see how research in the fashion field develops and how different sources and ideas are connected to build a study

Learning experience

One of the biggest lessons I learned was how important research and critical thinking are when studying changes in the fashion industry. Technology such as artificial intelligence is becoming more common in fashion marketing, and it is important to understand both the opportunities and challenges it brings. Through this experience, I learned how to read academic papers more carefully, take organized research notes, and connect ideas across different studies. I also realized how quickly the fashion industry is evolving and how important it is to stay informed about new technologies and trends

What advice would you give?

My advice for future students in fashion merchandising and design is to stay curious and explore areas beyond traditional fashion topics. Technology, digital media, and data are becoming increasingly important in the fashion industry. I would also recommend taking opportunities to work with professors on research projects or industry-related studies. These experiences can help you gain deeper knowledge about the field and develop useful skills such as research, analysis, and critical thinking
