Responsibilities

I am a social media coordinator. Largely, my responsibilities encompass making sure that social media posts are planned out as well as contacting photographers and models in my area and other areas in order to increase the number of photoshoots we are able to do.

Accomplishments

I think my greatest accomplishment so far has been creating samples of accessories that my boss could possibly use in her online store. She wanted more feminine accessories and I spent a lot of time trying to find items that would match with the items she already has. I created samples of bandanas, bucket hats, tube socks, fanny packs, and a few other items. It was really fun to get to play with my creativity and see what I could do with the pieces.

Learning experience

My largest takeaway from the experience thus-far has been that you should never be afraid to share your ideas. My employer hired me because they believed in my ideas and skills and I need to be able to show that confidence to them on a daily basis. I think it is so important to understand that your ideas have value and people want to hear them.

What advice would you give?

Do not restrict yourself in what you think you could do for an internship. Any internship you are able to take in the area that you want to work in will help you further understand what you want to do and if that is really something you want to do after school.
