Responsibilities

I was responsible for recording vitals, creating exercise prescriptions, leading stretching and weights, interpreting EKG strips, helping with assessments, class set-up and tear down, and general office tasks.

Accomplishments

Helping patients progress from post-op to walking several miles. Also creating home work out videos so the participants can stay active during the COVID-19 quarantine time.

What advice would you give?

For cardiac rehab students, take KIN 363 and really learn your heart anatomy and EKG strip interpretation, as this was a huge advantage to have going in. For everyone, say yes to all the opportunities you can. This is a time to observe, meet all sorts of people in the field, make mistakes, and learn.
