Responsibilities

6 South designs creates design concepts for weddings and helps to implement them with their rental items on hand. My job was to manage the store, organize rental items, and set up decorations at weddings. Some of the things we offered were pipe and drape, backdrops, table cloths, centerpieces, cake table, candy bars, etc. I also helped come up with designs for different decorations and worked to put them together.

Accomplishments

I learned all of the little details that go into putting together decor at a wedding. If I weren't trained in this area then I wouldn't have thought of doing many of the things that I have learned. Things like how to set up pipe and drape, how to do different back drops, how to clean, iron, and fold materials etc.

What advice would you give?

Find someone to intern with who has alot of experience and has a good reputation in the business. You want to learn as much in your internship as you can because it is practical knowledge that you can apply to your job in the future. Try to find an internship that will give you experience for the job you want in the future.
